With Real Madrid continuing to plot its assault on the transfer market this summer, Marco Verratti has been widely touted as a possible addition to add depth in midfield.

The Italian starlet, who has spent the last season working under Carlo Ancelotti at PSG, is currently away at the European Under-21 Championship, but has sought to brush off the talk of a move. “I heard about Ancelotti a few days ago and I think he’s going to leave. If this is the case, I’ll be happy for him because he’d be going to a big club. But my future isn’t tied to the coach’s. I am very happy in Paris; we’ll see what happens in the future, but for now I want to stay at PSG”, he claimed.

Verratti’s agent, Donato di Campli, has acknowledged Real’s interest in the youngster: “Next week I will meet with PSG to talk about his future. Real Madrid is interested”, he told ‘SportMediaset’.

Edinson Cavani’s name continues to be touted as a summer transfer target for Real Madrid. Luis Cavani, the Napoli striker’s father, spoke on MARCA TV programme ‘Futboleros’ about the offers the player has received outside of Italy and said that interest from ‘Los Blancos’ was the most appealing.

“Edinson would like to play for a team like Real Madrid. That’s what he wants to do and is open to a move. Our son told the family in private that he wants to play for Real Madrid, but if he publically states his desire to leave it will not be well-received at Napoli”, the player’s father revealed.

The Uruguayan forward’s parent went on to add that contact had already been made: “There has been contact with the Real Madrid lawyers and we are waiting for the clubs to speak to each other”.

Luis Cavani knows full well that it will be difficult for a deal to go through, due to Napoli’s high asking-price for the striker, despite the player’s willingness to leave: “It would be great if it happened and the clubs could meet as soon as possible to agree everything. Who wouldn’t want to play for Real Madrid? But it’s not only down to Edi. We’re talking about €65 million and Napoli won’t take anything less. But the player’s wish is not to stay”.

Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Gareth Bale have taken a knock. According to the ‘Daily Mail’, PSG is prepared to offer Tottenham some £85 million (almost €100 million) to sign the Spurs winger.

The sheikh and president of the Paris outfit, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, wants the Welshman to form the cornerstone of his new project at PSG and is willing to beat any offer which Real Madrid comes up with to snatch the Premier League’s 2013 Player of the Year.

PSG are also considering bringing in Villas-Boas to replace Carlo Ancelotti, which could boost Bale’s chances of ending up in the French capital.
