Jesús Navas has joined Manchester City. It has not been made official, however it will only be a matter of a few hours until both Sevilla and Man City confirm that the deal has been done.
Sevilla has made a agreement that is said to be worth around €20 million and then another 5,5 in extras, 3,5 million of this will be a set amount and not performance related.
Navas will be earning €2.5 million take home every season while enjoying playing for the North England club.
This extra cash should make a difference on the future of Álvaro Negredo. He seemed almost certain to go, but now a richer José María del Nido will certainly believe he can keep the Madrid-born player who has had a fantastic season scoring 25 goals in the league and 31 in total for the season, including six in the Copa del Rey.
After Sevilla President José María del Nido broke the news that the team was suffering from financial struggles and were looking to make €20 million in moves, all of Europe looked ready to pounce on their best players.
At first it appeared Jesús Navas would be safe in the nucleus of retained players, with others like Negredo, Fazio, Medel and Manu looking to be moved. That now seems to have changed, and teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, and Real Madrid are entering the number of teams calling for Navas’ services.
The Spanish winger went goalless this season in La Liga, but that isn’t keeping teams away. Navas has proven himself on the club and national team level, centering himself as a regular in Del Bosque’s lineups. He’s spent his entire career with the club, and even though he’s enjoyed his time there, he’s made it clear he doesn’t mind seeing a change in scenery.
