Posted on June 12, 2013 by Ifreke Okpokowuruk

Granada has entered their bid for Riki. The striker has become one of the priority targets for next season, according to MARCA.com, and with his contract ending June 30 with Deportivo, his desire is to follow a Primera Division team.

Espanyol has had the advantage. Negotiations between the two sides began in late April. The situation has now taken a turn after Granada expressed interest in acquiring his services. Riki had 13 goals this season, numbers that are far above those of the current Andalusian forwards in 12-13.

The other player Granada has made much of a great effort to obtain is Piti, who is also entertaining various offers. He has finished his contract with his former team, Rayo, and it looks like he’ll be dressed in red and white next year.

Valencia so close to the Champions 0

Valencia did well for themselves on Sunday, after securing a precious three points in a 1-0 win against Granada. They had been standing on treacherous ground the past few weeks, as they continued their fight to keep Real Sociedad from La Liga’s fourth and now most precious Champions League qualification spot.

The win was crucial for Los Che, as it ensured fate would be in their hands going into next week, as a win against Sevilla will guarantee Real Sociedad no chance to take their spot. Continue reading “Valencia so close to the Champions” »

Real Sociedad and Granada draw 2-2 0

Posted on May 14, 2013 by Ifreke Okpokowuruk

sociedad-granadaReal Sociedad came into Monday’s match with Granada temporarily having lost their fourth place position in the standings to Valencia. By the end of the night they would regain it, but not in the fashion they’d hoped.

The Erreala gave up a goal in the ninetieth minute of the game to Jose Recio, and Granada responded by celebrating as if they’d won the title. Red-clad players piled on top of one another at the far corner of the pitch, while La Real were left in disappointment.

Real Sociedad set themselves up for three points early on in the contest, as Imanol Agirretxe headed home a fiery free kick from Gonzalo Castro. But the lead wouldn’t last for long, as Youssef El Arabi pounded home a deflection past Claudio Bravo.

Agirretxe managed to score again right before the half, using his chest to guide in a wondrous cross from Carlos Vela. Everything seemed all but in the books until Granada keeper Roberto Alvarellos played a last minute desperation ball into the box, and after bouncing around it landed at the feet of Recio, who put it in the net.

The draw ties both Real Sociedad and Valencia at 59 points, but La Real hold onto 4th place with the tiebreaker. Granada remains in 16th place with 36.
