David Villa will end up leaving Barcelona this summer, but it will not be an easy operation. The player knows that he doesn’t fit into Tito Vilanova’s plans for next season. This year he has played little and the arrival of Neymar has spelled the end. But he does not intend to go at any price let alone losing money.
According to MARCA.com, when Barcelona signed him they gave him a four-year contract until 2014, in which he received about 7.5 million annually. But they filed a clause that the last year of his association with the Catalan club his salary would increase to 11 million euros.
The Barcelona thus intended to somehow help the player get to his intended destination of Valencia, who was very much interested in his services. But this 11 million clause poses a problem for all parties. For Barca, you can not allow a player who charges that much, which makes him the second highest paid player on the team, to be on the bench. The game I am looking forward to the most this week is Barcelona against Valencia in the Nou Camp. If I was a betting man I would stick my neck out on this one and bet the draw.
Barcelona as in most games is going to be the favourites and at the odds you would get it is hardly worth the risk.
My reasons for thinking that the match is going to be a draw are two fold in that I know the team has strength in Depth but with Super Copa match midweek they will again be a little tired and beat up following another encounter with Real Madrid a team desperate to start scoring.
David Villa looks to the future with optimism despite the defeat against Getafe this weekend that they gave away 6 points to Madrid. “This is not over, soon we will be playing against them, and we can beat them which will close the gap once more. ”
The Asturian striker, told Barça TV, added: “We have to go game by game, a win on Tuesday at Rayo and then we go step by step. Getafe has Closed well as all the teams are doing, we had our chances and their goalkeeper performed very well. We conceded a fateful goal a then thing become a lot harder. I’m not making excuses, but we have not get together and we didn’t make the most of the attack. “
