Atletico Madrid today confirmed the signing of Brazilian left back Guilherme Siqueira, from the Granada and last season on loan at Benfica Portugal, who will sign for four seasons as exceeds the physical.
The left side reaches 28 Madrid team after both clubs reached an agreement and incorporation is pending medical tests and signing the contract, according to the Atletico.
Siqueira had a contract with Granada until 2017 and a buyout clause of 25 million euros, although the operation by an amount close to 10 million could have been closed, as sources told Efe negotiation.
The player was on the agenda of several European clubs last summer, which in the end ended up at Benfica on loan team that won this season’s League and the Portuguese Cup and was a finalist for the Europa League which was defeated by Sevilla on penalties.
For Atletico sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero, incorporating Siqueira “increases the internal competitiveness of the group”.
“It’s a very good player set pieces, penalty taker, very offensive projection, great defensive virtues and excellent placement,” said Caminero told the club’s website.
