Rumours circulating that have implied Paris St Germain are preparing an approach for Real Madrid sensation Cristiano Ronaldo have been played down by PSG chairman Nasser el-Khelaifi.
Speculation in Italy and France indicated that the French club envision the Real hitman as the next acquisition in their big-money project, with it being reported that they are prepared to lure Ronaldo away from the Santiago Bernabéu with a €100 million offer.
It has been no secret that the former Manchester United goal machine has not been entirely happy this season with Madrid in the Spanish capital, so it wouldn’t be a huge shock if the player announced that he is seeking a move elsewhere.
But Ronaldo has made no comment on that subject in a while, and his boss, Jose Mourinho, will surely be doing everything in his significant power to hold on to his biggest asset.
Alhough, Mourinho himself has been subject of speculation linking the Portuguese special one with a move to the rich French club. Maybe the man who has won just about everything there is to win, in a host of the top leagues in Europe, will now be tempted with a new challenge in France.
PSG have now provided an official statement in response to the claims that they are in communication with Real Madrid about the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo and lining up a move for him in the January transfer window.
PSG chairman Nasser el-Khelaifi said: “Cristiano Ronaldo is a Real Madrid player.”
“I have not contacted his club, and no-one has contacted me about him.”
