Many of the top clubs in Europe have been in a mad pursuit of current Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini, most notably Manchester City. However it seemed the two years remaining on his contract and a €4 million release clause was throwing a wrench in many of those teams plans.
Its been reported that Malaga will waive the release clause, opening the door wide for Manchester City to move forward with their top choice to replace Roberto Mancini. Pellegrini has downplayed the possibility of joining the club in recent weeks, but this recent development makes it clear a tentative transaction is in place.
The 59 year-old Chilean has coached at both Real Madrid and Villareal, and enjoyed success at a number of South American clubs. He has also been linked to the Chelsea position, as it is widely expected that the Blues administration will not have Rafa Benitez return.
