UEFA are looking at making the European Super Cup the main event for the awards of the European Championships as they plan to award the prizes for the 2012 European Championships. As compared with what occurred in 2008, when Villa and Xavi got the Golden Boot and Best Player awards at Las Rozas, in Madrid, UEFA now would like the occasion with a greater global standing to be the back drop for its top competition’s award ceremony.
So, UEFA desires to give the competition’s Golden Boot to Fernando Torres and the best player of the competition honor to Andrés Iniesta on the eve of the Chelsea-Atlético game. On 31st August Torres will be one of the players included in the final, and Iniesta will be invited to the European footballing event.
On the other hand, Adidas, the brand that sponsors Casillas, is paying homage to the keeper for becoming the first player to lift three major trophies for his nation as well as the ‘Euro Golden Gloves’ (a prize that doesn’t officially exist) for only conceding one goal in the 570 minutes he played.
