Djukic becomes manager at Valencia

The Valencia CF officially announced through a statement on its website, that they have reached an agreement with Miroslav Djukic to coach the team for the next two seasons, until 2015.

The Serb, former coach of Valladolid, thus returns to Mestalla, where he defended the ‘Che’ shirt for six seasons during his playing days, being “one of the great figures of Valencia has enjoyed recent decades,” according to the statement officer.

Valencia narrowly missed out on Champions League actions for next season in a heartbreaking loss to Sevilla last weekend. Djukic can thank Negredo and his four individual goals as to why he won’t be able to coach his team in the great European tournament.

Djukic’s presentation will take place on Wednesday afternoon from 18.30 at the Mestalla Vip Palco, and can be seen live on MARCA.com.

Valencia utterly dismantle Rayo Vallecano 4-0

Valencia lifted themselves into La Liga’s final Champions League position with a cruising victory over Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. Los Che’s win comes with three games to play, and bodes well for them even though Real Sociedad can take fourth place back with a win on Monday.

Roberto Soldado kicked off the scoring barrage by netting a penalty shot in the 28th minute, after a bad foul by Vallecano’s Roberto Trashorras. He scored again in the 34th, after a beautiful assist from Andrés Guardado that left him with only a tap in.

17 minutes into the second half Guardado shook off his lengthy scoring drought after collecting his own rebound and firing it into the net. Nelson Valdez capped off the scoring with a left corner volley after a wondrous overhead through ball from teammate Sofiane Feghouli.
